3 weeks, 3 topics

It has been three weeks since the last entry. I am currently in Spain so I don't have access to my wall calendar to remind me what I've been up to. I can recall, however, three things I've done other than work and walk dogs. But first, a Daphne update.

She's doing brilliantly. She's become very comfortable at home and my experiments letting her off lead are going very well. At the golf course, Redburn Forest, the beach. Paddy chases a ball or Frisbee and she chases Paddy.

Off lead is important because when I have one or both on lead it can be tough on my arms.

So the three things I remember. First, films. I saw Conclave and The Brutalist. Both excellent. My day-after insight on The Brutalist is that the title doesn't refer to the architect but to the guy who hired him, who was brutal. I don't know if that's correct but it seemed fitting.

Secondly, I saw three short plays by Sean O'Casey. They were billed as farces, which should have been my red flag. There was a lot of slapstick, which I don't enjoy. The actors did a brilliant job, it was O'Casey who let me down.

Finally, I just finished reading The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles. It was a real page turner – I zipped through 575 pages in no time. It is so different from A Gentleman in Moscow that it's hard to believe it's the same author. Although I believe that was a page turner too.
